Global Technology Connection, Inc. (GTC), in collaboration with Arktis Detection Systems Inc., proposes the development of MobiQkRad (Mobile Quick Radiological/Nuclear Source Localization system). This innovative system is designed for rapid integration into standard vehicles, featuring lightweight components and advanced capabilities for real-time nuclear sources localization, 3D rendering with radiation overlay, and environmental change recognition. Utilizing GTC's enhanced localization algorithm (QkRad) and Arktis's MODES Kit, MobiQkRad aims to revolutionize radiation source localization by integrating contextual information with radiation measurements and GPS data. The Phase I project focuses on validating the feasibility of MobiQkRad by localizing several stationary radiation sources, each with varying isotope types. Phase II will broaden the assessment to encompass scenarios involving both stationary and mobile radiation sources, specifically targeting those with identical isotope types., and test the system's adaptability with various vehicle-mounted radiation detection systems. The primary challenges addressed include the physics of radiation detection, real-time data analysis, and accounting for environmental factors in radiation detection.MobiQkRad's potential commercial applications are vast, ranging from civilian mobile detection systems to military uses. It promises to deliver quicker and more accurate source localization than current solutions, at a significantly reduced cost. The projected market, assessed at $20 million annually for civilian applications and an additional $80 million for military uses, underscores the system's commercial viability. The proposed solution is poised to make a substantial impact in the field of nuclear source localization, offering a step-change improvement in operational effectiveness and cost efficiency.
